Shallow Marsh
The Shallow Marsh zone is characterised by shallow, persistent water or saturated soils for much of the year. Vegetation is dominated by low to medium-height emergent plants adapted to near-continuous wet conditions.
Common plant groups include sedges, rushes, and aquatic herbs such as Eleocharis, Baumea, Juncus, and Triglochin, widely used in constructed wetlands, stormwater treatment systems and natural marsh restoration.
