Description:
Widespread in Victoria from coastal forests to foothills, Acacia melanoxylon is a small to large tree suited to riparian zones, wet sclerophyll forests and sheltered landscape positions. Prefers moist, well-drained soils but tolerates a range of conditions, including seasonal inundation and moderate frost. Commonly used for ecological restoration, shelterbelts, and as a structural or feature tree in landscape and wetland projects. Provides habitat, stabilises banks and supports biodiversity.
