Tufted perennial sedge to 2 m, Baumea articulata occurs in permanent freshwater wetlands, floodplains, and riparian margins across Victoria. Prefers full sun to part shade, tolerates inundation and fluctuating water levels, and establishes in heavy or sandy soils. Suited to shallow marshes, wetland edges, and drainage lines, it provides habitat structure and stabilises banks. Commonly used in wetland construction, revegetation, and erosion control projects.
