1 - Terrestrial Zone
The Terrestrial zone sits outside the influence of permanent or regular inundation and includes upland areas, riparian banks and higher floodplain positions. Plant species in this category are adapted to well-drained or intermittently moist soils rather than standing water.
Typical vegetation includes trees, shrubs, tussock grasses, and groundcovers, with common families such as Eucalyptus, Rhagodia and Themada. These species are widely used for landscape structure, bank stabilisation and revegetation beyond the wetland edge.
