Wetland Construction and Revegetation

Wetlands are one of the most important and biodiverse ecosystems in Australia, providing habitat for a wide range of plant and animal species. Unfortunately, many wetlands have been destroyed or degraded due to human activities such as agriculture, urbanisation, industrialisation and resource extraction.

Balance Enviro specialises in the construction and restoration of wetland ecosystems through revegetation projects. Our team of experts has years of experience in designing and implementing wetland, terrestrial and revegetation projects, using the latest scientific techniques to ensure the long-term success of each project.

Grassland, Terrestrial, Riparian and Aquatic Environments

We are specialists in grassland, terrestrial, riparian and wetland planting and revegetation, and place a focus on understanding and enhancing these sensitive ecosystems whilst working with them. We have an array of expertise at our fingertips when it comes to constructing wetlands and indigenous landscapes, all the way from construction and earthworks requirements, to hydrological and ecological site management and nutrient and biological remediation. Our built landscape projects are driven by the use of locally indigenous and native plants, chosen to maximise habitat value and achieve aesthetic outcomes that can be sustainably maintained. We also integrate best work practices into all of our work sites and have experience with required environmental control measures.

Construction Process

Our wetland construction and revegetation projects typically involve a range of activities, including:

  • Site assessment and planning: Our team will visit the site to assess its current condition, taking into account factors such as hydrology, soil type, and existing vegetation. Based on this assessment, we will develop a customised plan for the construction and revegetation of the wetland.

  • Wetland construction: Depending on the site, our team may need to construct or modify existing hydrologic features to create the appropriate wetland conditions. This may include the construction of levees, berms, or channels to manage water flow.

  • Revegetation: Once the wetland is constructed, our team will work to vegetate the area with a diverse range of native plant species. We carefully select each plant for its ability to thrive in wetland conditions and provide habitat for local wildlife.

  • Monitoring and maintenance: After the wetland is established, our team will continue to monitor its progress and provide maintenance as needed to ensure the long-term success of the project.

Our wetland construction and revegetation projects are designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, using techniques such as natural hydrology and biological controls to minimise the need for synthetic or chemical inputs.
